About District

Barwani district, on the banks of the Narmada River in southwestern Madhya Pradesh, is a historically and culturally rich region also known as the “Paris of Nimar”. Formed on May 25, 1998, after being separated from West Nimar, the district is named for a “garden of banyan trees.” This land served as a key battleground in the freedom struggle led by the revolutionary Bhima Nayak. Its most famous attraction is Bawangaja, home to a massive 84-foot-tall Jain statue of Lord Adinath.
